About Sam

Sam graduated from Newcastle University with a degree in Marine Biology in 1993. Having won a scholarship to do research in Bermuda & Maryland she decided to combine her scientific knowledge with her passion for working with people and pursue a career in Pharmaceuticals sales. She worked with a top ten Pharma company, Bayer, and in 1999 joined Napp to develop her career in management. This was combined with a distance learning MBA which enabled her to take on a secondment in European Business Development. During this time she was a finalist for the UK Regional Business Manager of the Year award, sponsored by the Pharma Times.

As part of her own development in coaching, she studied to be a NLP Practioner in 2004 & she will qualify as a Master Practioner in 2008. Latterly during her time with Napp, she took another secondment with Marie Curie cancer charity which inspired her to set up her own company doing management consultancy & coaching.

After the birth of her son Finlay, she decided to specialise in supporting women in the work place. She has also become an active member of the Lothian Maternity Services Liaison Committee with a special interest in breast feeding. She now works as a pro bono business consultant for the charity Best Beginnings to promote a breast feeding manifesto to change parliamentary policy so that individuals receive consistent, accurate advice and practical support on breast feeding. She is also a member of the Parents like Us committee who organise & run a 3 day under 5's festival each year in Edinburgh. She is on the NCT committee for Edinburgh South.
